Michal Swieszkowski

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist
Michal’s path into physiotherapy grew naturally from a lifelong interest in sport and a fascination with the human body. Having competed in badminton at a high level throughout his teenage years, he developed an early appreciation for physical performance, training, and recovery. This led him to complete a BSc in Sports Rehabilitation and work as a sports therapist in private practice, before continuing his training with an MSc in Physiotherapy at London South Bank University.
Throughout his training, Michal gained experience across a broad range of clinical settings, including musculoskeletal practice, orthopaedics, elderly care, and critical care. His academic interests have been similarly varied, with his undergraduate research focusing on Achilles tendinopathy and his MSc research exploring the effects of exercise on recovery and neurogenesis following stroke. This has shaped a strong interest not only in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, but also in the neuroscience behind pain, movement, and recovery.
Michal particularly enjoys helping people return to the sports and activities that matter to them. He believes that good rehabilitation should go beyond simply treating symptoms, combining a clear understanding of the problem with progressive exercise, education, and hands-on treatment where appropriate. A key part of his approach is giving patients the knowledge and confidence to take an active role in their own recovery. His final clinical placement at Vanbrugh Physio further shaped this approach, developing his appreciation for thoughtful, progressive rehabilitation and ultimately leading him to join the team.
Outside the clinic, sport remains a big part of Michal’s life. He has been strength training for over eight years and enjoys both playing and following football and racket sports. Away from sport and physiotherapy, he enjoys cooking, films, fantasy books, history, hiking, and travelling.

An interesting fact no one would know:

I come from a small Polish village of 2000 people where my favourite activities where fishing and mushroom foraging.

Testimonials

Becky, Blackheath

“I can’t recommend Darren and his team highly enough! I went there (recommended by a friend) in an effort to avoid more surgery for persistent pain, adhesions and post-surgery scar tissue which was stopping me from doing the things I love. And I’m pleased to say I have successfully done so, with the help of Darren and his care. It’s taken 8 months, but I’m over the moon. I’m back in the gym exercising for the first time in ages and loving it. Darren is someone who continues to learn, inspire and invest in professional development and this is apparent from talking to him and his team. It’s great to find a local gem like this company.”
